Schematics for building a Nuclear plant in Minecraft
During my research, I found several discussions on Reddit, including threads from r/feedthebeast, r/MCEternal, and r/Minecraft. These threads provided various recommendations and tips about building nuclear reactors in Minecraft, with some focusing on specific mods and others discussing overall design and efficiency. There was a general consensus regarding popular mods like Nuclearcraft, Extreme Reactors, and Mekanism, but opinions varied on the complexity and ease of use for each mod. Given the information gathered, I have compiled a summary of the most relevant and popular options.

"Finally finished my nuclear power plant! Here's a view of the control room. Mods used in the comments."
- Someone on Reddit has built a nuclear power plant in Minecraft using IC2 and mods that complement it, and has shared several images of the plant, its control room, and the mods used in r/feedthebeast.
- The coolant is carried by fluiducts from Thermal Dynamics, and the control room is based on Energy Control with the addition of the Gauges and Switches mod for a tech aesthetic.
- The plant produces 20000 EU/s and has a fluid design. There are discussions in the comments on how to use this power to automate processes, such as milling and purifying ore before smelting, as iron becomes quite valuable in IC2.
- There are many comments expressing admiration for the build, as well offering suggestions for further improvement.
- One commenter asks if the builder can make a video or an imgur tutorial on how they built it and how it works, and if anyone is interested in it, the poster will be prepared to create a tutorial.
- There is a discussion on whether the build needs reactor protection or containment, and the poster states that the layout is inherently stable but there is no protection installed. One commenter suggests using a breeder capable of turning waste into new fuel rods and being able to pump them back into the system for a fully renewable source of energy.
- There is also a discussion on using the GregTech Experimental mod and its advanced features, and the poster provides a link to a download of the mod.
- Other mods mentioned in the comments include Heat and Climate, Valkyrien Skies, PneumaticCraft, and HBM’s Nuclear Tech Mod.
- The commenters express their interest and admiration for the build and offer to help and provide suggestions.
- There is also a meme joke reference to the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, with someone asking if they taste metal and the poster jokingly responding with the classic “Do you see graphite on the ground?” quote.

- Another user said Extreme Reactors was their preference for its simplicity, receiving 4 karma points.
- A user suggested Mekanism as a middle ground option for 1.16 Minecraft, which received 7 karma points.
- IC2 was also mentioned as having a reactor, but it is both weak and complicated.
- Another user recommended the Mekanism fusion reactor, which is large and resource-heavy but generates a high amount of rf/tick once set up. This received 1 karma point.
- One user suggested Hbm’s Nuclear Tech Mod Reloaded as the most immersive mod for nuclear reactors and radiation system, which includes images and received 1 karma point.
- Several users recommended Nuclearcraft, citing its expansive features and realism. They noted that it can be complicated and requires some understanding of nuclear physics. However, others suggested that players can use Nuclearcraft’s simpler mode and still gain a lot of power.
- Extreme Reactors was recommended for its simplicity and ease of use. Its reactors can be easily built, and players do not need to take many precautions when building one.
- Mekanism was recommended as a good option for 1.16 Minecraft, as it provides a good middle-ground experience between the complexity of Nuclearcraft and the simplicity of Extreme Reactors.
- IC2 was mentioned as a less powerful and more complicated option that is mainly used in progression packs or for an IC2-focused run.
- In addition to providing power, Nuclearcraft also provides new items, such as fuels, weapons, and radiation detectors.
- The mod also features realistic nuclear reactions and reactor designs, such as pressurized water reactors and molten salt reactors.
- Extreme Reactors also includes a lot of different types of fuel rods and casing options to choose from, which can help players customize their reactors to suit their playstyles.
- Mekanism includes a fusion reactor that generates a high amount of power, but it requires an extensive setup process and numerous resource requirements.
- Nuclearcraft is cited by some users as being too

"NuclearCraft Efficient Starter Reactors"
- The website provides designs for simple and efficient starter nuclear reactors in Minecraft Eternal, a modpack, which do not require much knowledge about NuclearCraft.
- The first reactor design is a 3x5x3 TBU, which is 476% efficient and generates 2860 RF/t. It requires reactor cells, graphite blocks and glowstone coolers.
- The second reactor design is a 7x5x7 TBU, which is 807% efficient and generates 18k RF/t. It requires only glowstone cooler and is better than many complex designs.
- The third reactor design is a 7x5x7 LEU235, which is 576% efficient and generates 11k RF/t. It requires only glowstone cooler and is again, very simple.
- The author suggests using Uranium/Thorium seeds in garden cloche, and an Isotope Separator to obtain fuel for the reactors and to trash depleted fuel cells.
- The author provides a tip stating that reactors can share casings but all the casing blocks on that side must be used and must be of the same height and width.
- The author also warns about the 957 second meltdown timer of the third reactor design, which makes it unsafe.
- The website has comments from other Minecraft players discussing more efficient power sources, such as ethylene, and recommending against using certain mods for making things too easy or boring.
- A Reddit user commented that building a Nether star generator, obtained from a challenge money quest, is a good option for power generation.
- Another Reddit user expressed a dislike for the Mekanism mod, as it makes things too easy and boring for them. They also mentioned they use gas-burning generators on ethylene currently and are planning to replace them with a Nuclearcraft reactor.
- A Reddit user reported that the second reactor design has a heat generation of 14k, causing it to overheat quickly. In response, the author provides a new design for a 7x5x7 TBU which is 701% efficient and generates 14320 RF/t, along with a 9x9x9 TBU which is 1042% efficient and generates 46920 RF/t.
- The author provides a link to the Reactor Planner with the NuclearCraft config file from the latest MC Eternal modpack imported.

"[HELP] How do I build a Nuclear Reactor?"
- The webpage is titled “[HELP] How do I build a Nuclear Reactor?” on the r/feedthebeast subreddit.
- The post is 9 years old and has only two points.
- The user is asking for help on how to build a nuclear reactor in Minecraft because most tutorials are outdated.
- The user has GT enabled and does not want to use Big Reactors, as they are not sure how to convert them to power.
-
Comments provide helpful recommendations and tips for building different types of reactors:
- For IC2+GT reactors, use Uranium for the fuel rods and any layout from any version all the way back to MC1.4 or maybe earlier should still work. (karma: 2)
- The reactor building has not changed ever since IC2 for Minecraft 1.5.2. Only the uranium processing has, the ore first goes through Ore washer and Thermal centrifuge. For more details on that, see NEI ingame for new recipes. (karma: 2)
- There are several types of reactors in Minecraft, including IC2, Big Reactors, GregTech, and Rotary Craft. (karma: 1)
- Every reactor makes different kinds of power, and there are updated tutorials available on YouTube. (karma: 1)
- One user warns that GregTech has a need to fiddle with the heat and power values of plutonium/thorium constantly which makes pretty much any design on the Internet out of date. He recommends doing pure IC2 uranium until the concept of how it works is understood. (karma: 1)
-
Some comments provide tips on how to generate power from the reactor:
- Use Mekanism’s universal cables that convert to most types of power, including RF, MJ, and EU. (karma: 3)
- Use magma crucibles to make lava, and throw that into a (geo)thermal generator for EU if Mekanism is not available in the pack. (karma: 0)
- One user warns about the dangers of touching uranium after Thermal centrifuge without wearing all four pieces of rubber suit. (karma: 2)
