openai solution for declined cards
In my research, I found several Reddit threads discussing issues related to declined cards when trying to purchase DALL-E 2 credits or access OpenAI's API. The sources varied in the extent to which they directly addressed the original query, but they provided a range of recommendations and experiences from users facing similar issues. There was no clear consensus on a single solution, as different users found success with different methods. However, I have organized the findings into sections based on the suggestions provided by various users.

- The credit card company states that they’re not receiving the payment request.
- Some users suggest using a VPN service, and some suggest not using a VPN service to make the payment.
- Creating a new account and not using the “Sign up with email” option can be helpful.

- Someone else says their Wise debit card didn’t work but their traditional bank CC did work.
- One user reports that their card only worked when they used a VPN server location near their card zip code.
- Some people have had success with payment interfaces like Applepay and Google Pay.
- There is a suggestion to switch browsers (Firefox rather than Safari) to solve the issue.
- Other users report trying 4 different cards from different banks, both credit and debit, and have tried Apple Pay, Google Pay, and link, but nothing works, and the card is still declined.
- Some users suggest that the cause of the issue might be peak traffic during a certain time of the day.
- Some users switch VPN locations to try and solve the problem.
- A few users reported that the issue was resolved at night, outside of peak hours.
- One user found success by creating a new account and paying through it with a different payment method.
Overall, the helpful suggestions include trying a different browser, using different payment interfaces, turning off or switching VPNs, trying at non-peak hours, and creating a new account. It is important to note that these solutions may not work for everyone and that contacting the customer support of the service facing the issue may be necessary.

""You exceeded your current quota, please check your plan and billing details." for account with 0 api requests."
- The Reddit thread contains a number of users experiencing the same issue with OpenAI where they are told they have exceeded their quota even though they have never used their API. Another user suggests that their free trial usage has expired or they have hit their monthly API usage limit for their organization. Several other users suggest creating a new account or API key.
- One user recommends verifying themselves on Discord (click on OpenAI Discord button, open or join the server, and verify account) to restore service.
- Another user recommends setting the quota to >$0 in the settings or trying to set up a credit card if they expired. However, one user experienced an issue where they set a limit of $10 per month with a credit card but still got the message.
- One user suggests that the issue could be the use of a deprecated model, and recommends checking if the model is mentioned in https://beta.openai.com/docs/models/gpt-3.
- Some users suggest that OpenAI has removed their free tier, and that they need to register a credit card and have credits to make API calls. One user recommends checking if they have available credits or credits that have expired, and another user suggests that they may need to start paying.
- One user expresses concern about how they will cope if OpenAI makes their service pay-only, and another user recommends using a VPN such as ProtonVPN to bypass any restrictions.
- One user has paid a yearly subscription and is receiving a message that they have exceeded their quota and have a problem with billing. They are seeking assistance.
- Several users recommend making a new thread to ask for help with this issue since this thread is old and people may not see the post.

-
Users provide different suggestions for how to proceed to resolve the issue including:
- Try creating a new OpenAI account with a new mobile number
- Use a friend’s number and make a new account
- Check if their free trial usage has expired
