This year is the worst for mental health:
- Mental health overall on campus isn’t amazing
- There is a collective sense of ‘things are really bad right now’ and it’s hard to stay positive when so many people are depressed
- Being at the school made people more aware of how bad their mental health was and gave them more space to cope in unhealthy ways
- People come here being the best in their class, or having amazing grades, and when they struggle or start to fall a bit it seems to hurt a lot
- This year is just harder mentally because of COVID
-
Mental health resources may not be enough:
- There are two licensed counselors on campus that are free and confidential
- School insurance covers trips to the psychiatrist in town so if you are wanting medication it’s very accessible
- Teachers are kind and will offer to have you over for dinner, give extensions, accept late work, etc if you’re having struggles

No United World college is the “worst”
- According to the source, UWC offers full or partial scholarships to cover school fees, regardless of financial background
- UWC National Committee website also has an FAQ which provides more information
- UWC is a non-profit and a majority (80%) of students are usually on scholarship of some kind
- Assessment is holistic and takes into consideration many things other than grades
- UWC is a wonderful place because it’s bustling with 101 things things to engage in and do
- The National Committee considers a lot of things, and if they don’t think there are any good fits, then nobody is selected that year
- The average IB grade varies from school to school, but the process itself is enriching for any 16-17 year old
- Anything above 39 will guarantee a place in Oxbridge or the Ivy Leagues, and SG students have a leg-up over 90% of international students when it comes to managing work
