UWC USA

UWC USA

UWC USA seems to have a mixed track record. Many sources [4] [5] [6] [8] [10] report that UWC USA has a great sense of community and student leadership opportunities, but mental health issues on campus are not addressed well and the school is becoming stricter in terms of punishments for minor offenses. It also does not seem to provide much of an advantage in the Ivy League college application process [2] , and some students regret going to UWC USA [6] . The National Committee website also has an FAQ which provides more information [8] , and it seems that UWC USA should not be chosen solely for the purpose of getting into an Ivy League college.
UWC Mostar

UWC Mostar

UWC Mostar seems to be a great option when considering the query, "Which United World College is the worst". It has an open campus and offers some great CASes [7] , and skiing trips to other countries [5] . People say that it is very diverse, focusing on peace and getting over past differences [7] . Although there is a weak infrastructure, the administration seems to be quite flexible [7] . It also appears that mental health is not an issue at UWC Mostar, with no bullying reported [6] . The National Committee also considers many things when selecting students for this college [8] , making it a more equitable selection process than many other UWCs.
UWC London

UWC London

UWC London seems to be a decent option when considering the query: "Which United World college is the worst". People say that the college has a great sense of community and leadership opportunities [2] , it's a very diverse school that focuses on peace and getting over past differences [7] , and it offers holistic assessment which takes into consideration many things other than grades [8] . Furthermore, UWC London doesn't seem to have as much of an elitist atmosphere as some other UWCs [7] . It seems like UWC London is not the worst United World college.
UWC Duino-Aurisina

UWC Duino-Aurisina

From what I've heard, UWC Duino-Aurisina seems to have some issues with leadership and arts programming [5] , but it also has some great CASes [6] . It seems like UWC Duino-Aurisina is not the worst option when it comes to United World Colleges, as many people report that they have had positive experiences there [4] . However, it may not be the best option either; other UWCs like UWC Costa Rica and UWC Mostar offer different experiences which may be more suitable for some students.
UWC Singapore

UWC Singapore

UWC Singapore seems to be a mixed bag when it comes to judging which UWC is the worst. It appears that the school has rigorous academics and leadership opportunities, but at the same time there can be elitist attitudes [6] and unprofessional behaviour in informing outcomes of interviews [5] . In addition, mental health on campus is apparently collectively bad [4] , with the school not being great at handling mental health issues [4] . Overall, it seems as though UWC Singapore has its pros and cons, making it hard to definitively say that it is the "worst" United World college.

    • This year is the worst for mental health:
      • Mental health overall on campus isn’t amazing
      • There is a collective sense of ‘things are really bad right now’ and it’s hard to stay positive when so many people are depressed
      • Being at the school made people more aware of how bad their mental health was and gave them more space to cope in unhealthy ways
      • People come here being the best in their class, or having amazing grades, and when they struggle or start to fall a bit it seems to hurt a lot
      • This year is just harder mentally because of COVID
    • Mental health resources may not be enough:
      • There are two licensed counselors on campus that are free and confidential
      • School insurance covers trips to the psychiatrist in town so if you are wanting medication it’s very accessible
      • Teachers are kind and will offer to have you over for dinner, give extensions, accept late work, etc if you’re having struggles

      • The average IB grade varies from school to school, but the process itself is enriching for any 16-17 year old
      • Anything above 39 will guarantee a place in Oxbridge or the Ivy Leagues, and SG students have a leg-up over 90% of international students when it comes to managing work
